On April 29, 2022, the Second U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals listened to oral arguments regarding the viability of the “legal shield” that would protect members of the Sackler family and Purdue Pharma from lawsuits related to the prescription opioid OxyContin, a factor that has been deemed important in the confirmation of the company’s plan of reorganization. This program will address the legal and business issues that became so prominent in the course of the case and as precedent for chapter 11 bankruptcies that will follow.
ABI’s Strategies and Perspectives Series highlights complex recently confirmed bankruptcies through moderated discussions amongst industry luminaries who were involved in the case. The next program, featuring Purdue Pharmaceuticals, will be moderated by the WSJ Pro, presented virtually, produced on a sophisticated technology platform, and formatted as a 90-minute discussion. The program will be livestreamed on key platforms and will include a question-and-answer session administered by ABI staff.
